January to June 2022 revenue for all radio operators in Ireland is up 18% on the same period last year

Revenue remained buoyant throughout the period with revenues in quarter 1 2022 up 22%, while revenues for April to June were up 14% on the same period last year.

The data shows that the Irish radio advertising market enjoyed revenues of €74.2 million for the January to June2022 period, up 18% on the same period last year. Revenue remained buoyant throughout the period with revenues in quarter 1 2022 up 22%, while revenues for April to June were up 14% on the same period last year.

The €74.2million revenue was made up of €60 million of spot revenue (radio commercials)which was up 16% for the period. Branded content revenue (sponsorships, partnerships, content solutions) came to €12.9 million, up 21%. while digital audio revenue was €2.3 million for the period, up 50%. Revenue from media agencies came to €51.9 million, up 10% while revenue coming directly from advertisers was €22.3 million, up 40%.

The JNLR released recently for the July ;21to June ’22 period confirmed that radio enjoys huge audience numbers with 91.2%of Irish adults and 87.1% of 15-34 year olds listening to radio every week. The daily listenership levels are also hugely impressive with 79% of adults and 69%of 15-34 year olds listening to radio each weekday. These listenership levels are all the more impressive when compared to daily user levels for the main tech platforms as reported by the Ipsos Social Media Tracker. It shows that Facebook has only 34% of adults using its platform daily, Instagram, 30% of adult users daily and Tik Tok with 12% using the platform each day.
